COLUMBIA, Mo. - In their first-ever match up on the volleyball court, the (RV) Columbia College volleyball team defeated Crowley's Ridge College (Ark.), 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-15).
The Cougars improve to 16-10 on the season and 5-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
Columbia dominated the first set, only allowing seven points from Crowley's Ridge. The Cougars went on an early 7-0 run, hitting a stellar .571. Columbia put down 14 kills in the opening set.
The dominance continued into set two for the Cougars, producing a match-high of 16 kills while the Pioneers had three.Â
Set three deemed the closest of the match, as the Pioneers put down seven kills, producing 15 points. Columbia though, took care of business, recording 15 kills.
Columbia hit .446 in the match, while Crowley's Ridge hit -.035.
Mariana De Carvalho led Columbia with 13 kills and assists.
Agatha Emanuelle,
Sude Gundogan, and
Allana Capella each produced three blocks.
Hannah Vogt led the Cougars with 16 assists, while
Alexa Olson contributed nine.
Isabella Kincaid tied a career-high with three service aces.
Columbia returns to action on October 22 against Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.) at 6:00 PM.
