O'Fallon, Mo. - The second-seeded Cougars of Columbia College fell to the third-seeded Mustangs of Central Baptist College tonight in the American Midwest Conference tournament.
The loss moves the Cougars to 36-13 on the season, while CBC improves to 36-13.
The Cougars struggled on offense tonight as they were held to just six hits through nine innings of play, also giving up three errors.
CBC scored first with an RBI double in the second from C. McDaniel. Then, in the top of the fifth, CBC tacked on two more runs with an RBI single and an error from CC.
In the top of the sixth, L. McBride used a two-run single to put CBC up 5-0.
Looking to gain some momentum, the Cougars used a home run from
Tyler Renn to score a run, but a home run from the Mustangs in the next inning halted the excitement from CC.
Trailing 6-1 in the ninth,
Bailey Quint singled to get on first, but it would not be enough as the final out was recorded for CBC to take the win.
The Cougars will look to keep their season alive tomorrow in a must-win scenario against William Woods at 1:00PM.
