No. 24 Baseball Ends Season at NAIA Opening Round Finals

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The No. 24-ranked Columbia College baseball team ended their season this evening at the NAIA Opening Round Finals of the Kingsport bracket.

Columbia started the day with an upset win over No. 6-ranked Webber International (Fla.), 6-5, before falling to No. 13-ranked Tennesse Wesleyan this evening, 9-8.

Columbia finished the season with an overall record of 39-16, resulting in the second-most wins in a season in program history.

  • The Cougars jumped on top 2-0 after a throwing error from the Warriors in the first inning
  • Cayden Nicoletto and Tyler Renn added a pair of hits in the second inning, bringing in two more runs, taking a 4-0 advantage
  • Webber International scored on a fielders choice in the second inning, followed by an RBI single, 4-2
  • Columbia brought in two additional runs in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead
  • The Warriors added three runs in the ninth, but the Cougars would prevail, resulting in a 6-5 final
