Swann Steps Down

COLUMBIA, Mo. - After serving one year as Interim Head Men's Lacrosse Coach and one year as Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach, Kody Swann is stepping down. Swann will return closer to home as the Assistant Lacrosse Coach at his alma mater, the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

"Kody did a fantastic job of stepping in this last year and did some great things with our lacrosse program in a short time," James Arnold, Director of Athletics stated. "The last month of the season, you could see how much they progressed and they were playing really good lacrosse. We hate to see him leave but excited for the opportunity for him and his fiancé to get back closer to family."

While serving as interim head coach, Swann led the Cougars to the championship game of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and a 3-1 conference record. Columbia named three student athletes to the All-KCAC First Team and All-KCAC Second Team, while Bryce Peltier took home Player of the Year honors. Swann spent one year as assistant coach for the Cougars prior.

Preceding his time at CC, Swann spent two years as a graduate assistant and one year as an assistant coach for the University of the Cumberlands. The Patriots produced two NAIA National Semifinal appearances in the three-year span.

During his playing career, Swann also suited up for the Patriots as a two-time NAIA Second-Team All-American, while also gathering AAC First and Second-Team All-Conference honors.

A search for a new head lacrosse coach is currently underway.

"We are committed to fielding a championship caliber lacrosse team and are confident we'll have a great candidate pool to choose from," Arnold stated.
