Freeman Leads Cougars in Win Over Truman State

Columbia, MO - The 17th-ranked Cougars of Columbia College played host to NCAA Div. II opponent Truman State University tonight, scoring in both halves to play to a 2-0 win.

The win puts the Cougars at 3-1-1 on the season with the Bulldogs dropping to 1-1.

Columbia holds a 6-6 all-time record against Truman State and has not lost to the Bulldogs since 2008.

The first half saw both teams go back and forth on possession early on until a foul from TSU gave Columbia a free kick. The Cougars took the kick quickly and a pass from Brady Freeman found Carter Redford who found the back of the net to give Columbia the 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Columbia turned up the offensive pressure and registered 11 total shots to just three from TSU.

At the 77-minute mark, Cooper Allen played the ball to Brady Freeman at the top of the box as Freeman took a shot and scored, registering his first goal of the season and giving Columbia the 2-0 lead.

As time expired, Columbia had a few more shots on goal but none that made their way past the TCU keeper.

Alejandro Molto Munoz earned his second shutout of the season with his one save in goal tonight.

The Cougars will play at home again on Saturday, September 14th, as they welcome the Judson University Eagles to R. Marvin Owens.
