COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College women's soccer team put together a commanding first-half performance, cruising to a 4-0 shutout victory over Culver-Stockton College on Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars improve to 4-4-1 on the season with the decisive home win.
Columbia dominated from the opening whistle, outshooting the Wildcats 20-3 and earning 11 corner kicks compared to just one for Culver-Stockton. All four goals came in a blistering first-half display that saw the Cougars find the net four times in just under 15 minutes.
Macie Vincent led the offensive attack with two goals. Georgia Pardalos and Hannah Shylanski each added a goal and an assist, with Pardalos extending her impressive season to five goals. Madeleine Shylanski orchestrated much of the attack, recording two assists on the afternoon.
The scoring began in the 15th minute when Hannah Shylanski opened the floodgates with her third goal of the season, assisted by both Pardalos and Madeleine Shylanski. Less than three minutes later, Pardalos doubled the lead with help from Hannah Shylanski. Vincent joined the party immediately after, scoring at 18:25 off a Madeleine Shylanski assist. Vincent capped the first-half barrage with an unassisted goal in the 30th minute to make it 4-0.
Goalkeeper Natalie Allison earned the win and clean sheet, making two saves in the full 90 minutes. Columbia's stout defensive effort held Culver-Stockton to just two shots on goal while controlling possession throughout the match.
