Women's Basketball Opens Season With 72-41 Win at Home

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball team had three players score in double figures as the Cougars opened the 2025-26 season with a 72-41 exhibition victory over Westminster Tuesday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.

Mya Miller scored a game-high 18 points, while Lexi Miller (13 points, nine rebounds) and Ashtyn Klusmeyer (10 points) also scored in double figures. Emma Daniels added nine points, going 3-of-5 from three-point range.

Lexi Rubel added three points and a team-high six assists.

The Cougars shot 37.7 percent (26-69) from the field and hit seven three-pointers in the win. Columbia outrebounded Westminster 55-26 and had a 30-8 advantage in points in the paint.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, taking an 8-2 advantage in the opening minutes. Columbia extended the lead to 15-11 by the end of the first quarter after shooting 31.6 percent from the field with three three-pointers.

The Blue Jays kept it close in the second quarter, but Columbia maintained control as the lead grew to 29-20 at the break.

Columbia opened the second half with strong play as Mya Miller scored six straight points to push the advantage to 35-20. The Cougars continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring Westminster 21-13 to take a 50-33 lead into the fourth.

A 22-8 run by Columbia in the final quarter sealed the victory as the Cougars shot 52.6 percent from the field in the fourth. Macie Harman came off the bench to score nine points in just three minutes of action late in the game.

NOTES: Columbia forced 13 turnovers and converted them into 16 points ... The Cougars had 17 assists on 26 made field goals.
