Lacrosse Ends Season at HAAC Quarterfinals

Atchison, Kan. - The No. 5-seeded Columbia College lacrosse team closed out the 2025 season falling to No. 4-seeded Benedictine College this afternoon in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Quarterfinals, 17-8.

Columbia closes out the season with an overall record of 6-8, with a 6-3 HAAC record.

The Cougars came out firing in the first quarter, matching the Ravens, knotting the score at 4–4. A flurry of goals from Drake Morrissey and Fletcher Wood, along with key assists from Dylan Forbeck, kept Columbia in contention early.

The offense struggled to find rhythm in the second and third quarters, as Benedictine tightened up defensively while adding nine unanswered goals. However, Columbia regrouped and rallied in the fourth, tacking on another four goals—including standout plays from Zach Baker and Brock Pleis, along with a hat trick-completing goal from Morrissey.

In goal, Andrew Stapf made 18 saves on 35 shots on goal.

In the midfield, Kail Mattis won 18 of 29 draws and collected six ground balls.
