St. Louis, Mo. - The Columbia College lacrosse team had its winning streak halted tonight as they fell to the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University on the road.
The Cougars trailed at the half 10-5 and looked to cut into the deficit heading into the third quarter. Both teams netted three goals in the third with MBU still holding a 13-8 lead.
William Rusk got the scoring started for the Cougars in the fourth, with more goals coming from
Brock Pleis and
Dylan Forbeck.
Columbia had managed to cut the Spartan lead to just two, 17-15, with a goal from
Nico Andrews, but that would be as close as the Cougars could get as time expired.
Both teams totaled 43 shots, while Columbia managed 33 shots on goal to 31 from MBU.
The Cougars struggled on face offs as the Spartans dominated the category, 27-6.
The Cougars will be back in action this Friday on the road as they are slated to take on #10 William Penn University in the Heart of America Conference Game of the Week.
