COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College (Mo.) women's basketball team concluded the 2024–25 season with an impressive 28-4 overall record, including a 19-3 mark in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play. The Cougars claimed their fourth-straight (ninth overall) AMC Tournament title as a No. 2 seed, defeating the No. 1 seed, Williams Baptist University (Ark.) on their home court. Columbia showcased dominance on both ends of the court, averaging 77.7 ppg, while limiting opponents to 57.3 ppg, resulting in a +20.5 scoring margin.
Season Highlights & Records
- The team began the season with 18 straight wins, narrowly missing the program's record of 19 consecutive victories to start a season, set during the 2015–16 campaign.
- Columbia captured the highest winning percentage in program history at 87.5 percent and fewest losses in a season with four
- Mallory Shetley (2020-25) became the all-time leading scoring leader for the Columbia College women's basketball program when she secured her 2,080th point against Central Baptist College (Ark.) on 2/20/25. She ended her time for the Cougars racking up 2,197 career points.
- Mallory Shetley broke multiple program records this season including:
- Most field goals in a career (849)
- Highest field goal percentage in a game (100%, 10-10) versus the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (Mo.) (1/20/25)
- Most free throw attempts in a career (575)
- Most free throws made in a career (446)
- Mallory Shetley moved to third all-time in rebounding (827)
- Lexi Miller became the leader for most three's made in a season (91)
- Abby Backes (2020-25) moved to third all-time in assists (427)
- DeLaney Horstman joined the Century Club, having won more than 100 games in her four-year career. Horstman joins 19 other Cougar women's basketball players
- The team achieved a field goal percentage of 43.4 and a free throw percentage of 74.4
