Baseball Picks Up Multiple Conference Awards, McGinnis Named Player of the Year

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2025 AMC Baseball All-Conference teams, season award winners, Academic All-Conference team, and the AMC Baseball Champions of Character Team. Columbia garnered a handful of accolades including two season awards, along with a program-best, eight named to the First Team, and two named to the Second Team.

 Season Awards:
Gold Glove Team:
First Team All-Conference 
  • Brayden McGinnis - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Ranks second in the NAIA with a batting average of .507 and in RBI with 76. Leads the American Midwest Conference (AMC) with 75 hits, 76 RBI, 18 home runs, 22 doubles, an on-base percentage of .560, and a slugging percentage of 1.020. McGinnis became the all-time home runs leader in Columbia College baseball history against Crowley's Ridge College (Ark.) (4/18/25), as he currently leads the program with 49 home runs.
 
  • Owen Clark - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Gathered a record of 7-0 over 49.1 innings pitched. Leads the Cougars with 65 strikeouts, earning a 2.01 ERA. Threw a career-high of 13 strikeouts against Crowley's Ridge (4/21/25).
 
  • Hunter Hees - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Collected a 4-0 record over 27.2 innings pitched. Earned a 1.95 ERA. Recorded a career-high of five strikeouts versus Graceland University (Iowa) (2/1/25).
 
  • Tyler Renn - named to the First Team for the third time in his career. Ranks fourth in the AMC with a .427 batting average and a slugging percentage of .840. Collected 64 hits, 53 RBI, and a career-best 15 home runs. Ranks third in the AMC with 17 doubles and fourth in home runs.
 
  • Bailey Quint - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Ranks second in the AMC with a batting average of .435, 67 hits, and 18 doubles. Belted nine home runs, while bringing in 43 RBI.
 
  • Zac Fruend - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Gathered a batting average of .425, notching 37 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, and 10 home runs. Drove in 25 RBI with a slugging percentage of .931. Posted a career-high of two home runs against Central Baptist College (Ark.) (2/28/25).
 
  • Jaden James - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Leads the AMC with five triples, while ranking fifth with a batting average of .399. Added 65 hits, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, and 50 RBI. Posted a career-high of two home runs against Crowley's Ridge (4/18/25).
 
  • Jack Matousek - named to the First Team for the first time in his career. Batted .394, accumulating 56 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 49 RBI. Posted a career-high of two home runs against Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.) (2/25/25).

Second Team All-Conference
  • Pierce Hartmann - named to the Second Team for the second time in his career. Compiled a career-best ERA of 3.33, earning a 7-2 record. Struck out 38 batters over 48.2 innings pitched.
 
  • Dylan Carlton - named to the Second Team for the first time in his career. Batted .352, collecting 50 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Added a career-high of five RBI against Crowley's Ridge (4/21/25).

Champions of Character Team:
  • Joe Hoerchler was named to the Champions of Character Team. Each AMC school selects a member of their team to receive the NAIA Champions of Character Award. It is the student-athlete who they feel best exemplifies the NAIA 's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
