Cougars Rally Late to Beat Harris-Stowe

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Columbia College men's soccer improved to 11-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play with a 2-1 win over Harris-Stowe Saturday afternoon at Hornets Field.

Columbia struck first in the 16th minute when Faraj Shee converted a penalty kick for his 11th goal of the season. Harris-Stowe answered in the 20th minute as Benjamin Martinez scored off an assist from Samuel Guerrero, leveling the match at 1-1 heading into the break.

The Cougars were reduced to 10 men in the 48th minute when Layton Dahl was shown a red card, but they found the go-ahead goal late. Drew Schlimme scored his third goal of the season in the 81st minute, assisted by Charlie Lafata, to secure the win.

Columbia outshot Harris-Stowe 13-6 on the night, including a 6-1 edge in the second half, and held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Mason Beck made two saves to backstop the victory. Harris-Stowe won the corner-kick battle 6-4. Columbia picked up four yellow cards — Dahl, Joshua Peterson, Lafata and Alessandro Locatelli — while Harris-Stowe's Miller Arm, Djordje Stankovic, Martinez and Felipe Samary were also shown yellows.

The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 27 as they face Hannibal-LaGrange for the final conference game of the 2026 season. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. on R. Marvin Owens Field in Columbia, Mo.
