Cougars Go 1-1 on First Day of KC NAIA Invite

Kansas City, Kan. - The Columbia College softball team split a pair of games in their 2026 season opener against #25 Evangel and Doane at the NAIA KC Invite.

The Cougars dropped a hard-fought pitching duel to #25 Evangel 1-0 before bouncing back with a dramatic 8-4 comeback victory over Doane.

Game One Stats:

#25 Evangel def. CC, 1-0

  • Wriley Taylor collected Columbia's lone hit in the contest
  • Ella Schouten: 6.1 IP, 11 SO, 0 ER
  • Evangel scored the game's only run in the seventh inning on a throwing error
