SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The No. 15 ranked Columbia College men's basketball team opened up the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament today with a 98-55 victory over the Eutectics of UHSP. The Cougars received the number one seed in the tournament after claiming outright AMC champions.
With the win, the Cougars advance to the semifinal round of the tournament and move to 26-3 on the season.Â
The Cougar offense came out to a strong start outscoring the Eutectics 48-26 at halftime. Off the bench,
Max Rieger led the way for the team finishing with 20 points.
AJ Walker (11),
Adam Sausele (13), and
Marcelous Phillips (11) all finished in double-figures.Â
Jemeal Goines chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.Â
Columbia shot 100 percent from the free throw line and finished 36-for-60 from the field. The dominance continued as the Cougars out-rebounded UHSP 42-28 and dished out 23 assists compared to the Eutectics 10. The Cougars never led up, turning UHSP turnovers in 18 points.Â
The Cougars advance to the semifinal round of the tournament and play the winner between Central Baptist and Crowley's Ridge. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, February 28 at 2:15 p.m. at host site, Mission University.Â
