COLUMBIA, Mo. – Columbia College head men's basketball coach Tomas Brock has been named the next head men's basketball coach at his alma mater, NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University (Mo.).
Over his seven seasons leading the program, Brock guided the Cougars to three NAIA National Tournament appearances, two American Midwest Conference (AMC) regular season titles, and two AMC Tournament titles. He compiled an overall record of 156-59 and an 87-26 mark in conference play, while coaching six All-Americans. During the 2022-23 season, Brock was named AMC Coach of the Year.
This season, Columbia secured its most wins since the 2015-16 campaign, finishing 29-4 while capturing both the AMC regular season and tournament titles. The Cougars played host to the 2026 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship First and Second Rounds as the No. 4 seed, ranked 15th in the nation.
"Coaching basketball at Columbia College has been one of the great joys of my life," said Brock. "I'm thankful to Bob Burchard for taking a chance on me as a young assistant 11 years ago. I'm also grateful to James Arnold, Cindy Potter, and Drew Grzella for their leadership and support. There are countless others in the CC community to thank, but most of all, I'm thankful to our former players and coaches. Their hard work and buy-in to our program created a culture that we can be proud of. We are and will always be CC!"
Prior to taking over as head coach, Brock served as associate head coach under Bob Burchard for four seasons, helping lead the Cougars to five NAIA National Tournaments, including two Round of 16 finishes.
"We want to thank Coach Brock for his incredible dedication to Columbia College athletics over the years," said Director of Athletics Cindy Potter. "He has continually been a leader in our department and throughout the conference. We will miss his presence, but we are so excited for this next chapter in his career. This is an amazing opportunity for him, and we wish him nothing but success!"
