WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Columbia College baseball team wrapped up its series in Arkansas against Williams Baptist on Saturday. The Cougars secured the series victory with a 6-1 win in game one before falling 10-6 in the finale. With the results, Columbia moves to 18-8-1 overall and 9-2-1 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play.
Game one was highlighted by a dominant outing from Parker Anderson, who threw 8.1 innings, striking out 11 while allowing just six hits. Offensively, the Cougars got on the board first with an RBI single from Dylan Carlton that brought home Jack Dunn. Columbia broke things open in the fourth inning, plating five runs to take control and ultimately secure the win.
In game two, Columbia jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the second inning. However, with command issues on the mound and defensive miscues, Williams Baptist was able to chip away and take a 7-6 lead in the fifth. The Eagles added three more runs by the eighth inning, and the Cougars were unable to mount a comeback.
