ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The (RV) Columbia College men's lacrosse team rebounded in a big way tonight, rolling to a 20–9 road victory over Missouri Baptist University at Spartan Field. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) play.
Columbia wasted no time getting on the board, with Nico Andrews finding the back of the net just 31 seconds into the contest. The Cougars went on to score eight goals in the first quarter alone, building an 8–1 cushion before the end of the period. Brock Pleis fueled the early surge with two first-quarter goals, both assisted by Drake Morrissey.
Missouri Baptist made things briefly interesting in the second quarter, scoring three consecutive goals to cut the deficit to four at 8–4. But Columbia responded, with William Rusk and Pleis each finding the net in the final two minutes of the half to push the lead back to six at the break.
The Cougars picked up where they left off in the third, outscoring the Spartans 5–1 on goals from Dylan Forbeck, Brock Pleis, Adam Spriggs, William Rusk, and Kail Mattis to effectively put the game away.
Pleis led all scorers with five goals on seven shots, while Andrews finished with four goals and two assists. Morrissey was the catalyst from behind the cage, tallying one goal and a game-high four assists. Rusk added three goals and Jack McDowell chipped in two.
