Lacrosse Falls to No. 6 William Penn

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia College Cougars were unable to slow down a high-powered William Penn attack Saturday afternoon, falling 21–5 at R. Marvin Owens Field. The Statesmen, now 9–1 on the season, were clinical from the opening whistle, building a 13–0 lead at halftime and never letting up.

Prior to the initial faceoff, Columbia recognized the six seniors that have left a lasting impact on the program.

Drake Morrissey led Columbia's offense with two goals, while Will Rivenburgh, Dylan Forbeck, and Kai Garriock each added a goal of their own. Nico Andrews finished with two assists, and William Rusk and Brock Pleis each chipped in one. Garriock's goal in the fourth quarter, a man-up conversion off a Pleis assist, was a bright spot in an otherwise difficult afternoon for the Cougars.

In net, goalie Bryce Peltier made eight saves before being relieved early in the second half, with Andrew Stapf stepping in to record nine saves over the final 33-plus minutes. The duo combined for 17 stops on the day against a William Penn attack that put up 53 shots.

Columbia was outpaced in nearly every statistical category, the Cougars won just 15 of 30 faceoffs, and William Penn dominated possession with 44 ground balls to Columbia's 35. The Cougars also committed 32 turnovers on the afternoon.

Columbia falls to 7–5 overall and 4–2 in Heart of American Athletic Conference (HAAC) play.

The Cougars will look to regroup as they prepare to hit the road Tuesday, April 14 to face Ottawa University at 6:00 p.m.
