Baseball Concludes AMC Tournament Run

OZARK, Mo. — The No. 1-seeded Columbia College baseball team fell to No. 4-seeded Williams Baptist University (Ark.) 4-3 in the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament on Tuesday. With the loss, Columbia drops to 30-13-1 overall.

The Eagles jumped on top in the fourth inning when Skylar Morrison launched a two-run home run to left field, plating Mari Thomas and putting Williams Baptist ahead 2-0. The Cougars answered in the fifth when Joey Marcinkiewicz hit a solo shot to right, and took their first lead of the game in the sixth when Braden Hemmer singled home Dylan Carlton and Zac Fruend to make it 3-2.

Williams Baptist reclaimed the lead for good in the seventh, as Cade Parks doubled home Will Riley to tie it before Mari Thomas singled to score Parks and put the Eagles ahead 4-3. Columbia loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but could not push across the tying run, and was retired in order in the ninth to end the contest.
