Softball Season Recap

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College softball team wrapped up the 2026 campaign at the NAIA Opening Round in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Cougars ended the year 27-15 overall and 13-5 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) regular season. Columbia clinched a birth to the NAIA Opening Round tournament after sweeping through the AMC Tournament to secure the program's 20th championship title. 
Season Milestones
  • The Cougars completed a perfect run in the AMC Tournament, beating Cottey in the championship game to secure an automatic birth to the national tournament 
  • Head coach Wendy Spratt completed her 32nd season at the helm of the program 
  • This Cougar team was fueled by the strength of their pitching staff, holding a team ERA of 1.64, 307 total strikeouts, and limiting opponents to just 82 walks
  • Graduate student, Ella Schouten was dominate for the Cougars with over 145 IP, totaling 201 strikeouts of her own and giving up 36 walks this season
  • Schouten is amongst the best in Cougar history with 749 career strikeouts and was named AMC Tournament MVP and AMC co-Pitcher of the Year
  • The Cougars picked up ranked wins over (RV) Baker University (Kan.), No. 11 Midland University (Neb.), and No. 17 Central Methodist University (Mo.)
