COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia College volleyball team (13-6) split its two matches at the CC Quad on Saturday inside the Arena of Southwell Complex. The Cougars took the first set from No. 5 McPherson before falling 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 16-25, 17-25), then swept Haskell 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) in the afternoon.
Columbia returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when the Cougars travel to Hannibal, Mo., for a tri-match hosted by Hannibal-LaGrange University. Columbia, which remains unbeaten at 4-0 in American Midwest Conference play, will face the host Trojans in a league contest at 3 p.m. before closing the day against Evangel at 5 p.m.
Hannah Vogt put together one of the best serving performances in program history against McPherson. She finished with seven aces, matching her career high and the fifth-most in a single match in Columbia history. She first reached that mark against Williams Baptist on Sept. 19, 2025. Vogt added four more aces against Haskell, giving her 11 on the day. She now sits just six shy of cracking the top-10 list for career service aces.
Taylor Johnson also reached a career milestone in the opener. Her first dig against McPherson was the 1,000th of her career. She finished that match with a team-high 14 digs and added 13 more against Haskell, bringing her career total to 1,026.

Vogt served three straight aces early in the first set, and the Cougars never trailed after a 9-9 tie on the way to a 25-19 win. McPherson led 24-18 in the second set, but Columbia fought off five set points, pulling within 24-23 before the Bulldogs closed it out. McPherson then pulled away late in the third and fourth sets, ending the third on a six-point run.
Kenedi Canty, Alayna Backes and Isabella Kincaid each had nine kills. Backes hit .500 and added seven blocks. Vogt dished out 24 assists, and Alexa Olson added 17.

The Cougars hit .267 and held Haskell to .051 in the sweep. Kincaid served five straight points to break open a close first set, Rowan Carr's five-point service run erased a 6-3 deficit in the second, and Olson served the final four points of the match.
Viola Giangreco led the way with 10 kills on 16 swings, committing just one error for a .562 hitting percentage. Canty added eight kills on 12 swings for a .500 hitting percentage. Kincaid chipped in seven kills, 13 digs and two aces.
