COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Columbia College volleyball team battled through a challenging home doubleheader Tuesday, falling to Ottawa in straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) and to Central Methodist in four, 25-23, 13-25, 25-21, 25-22. Columbia moved to 6-5 on the season, while Ottawa improved to 4-6 and Central Methodist to 7-5.
Columbia returns to action Friday, September 11, taking on Saint Mary at the SAU Invitational in Davenport, Iowa, at 6:30 p.m.

Ottawa controlled the match from the start, but Columbia stayed in the fight defensively, with Taylor Johnson and Isabella Kincaid combining for 19 digs to keep rallies alive. Viola Giangreco and Kincaid led the way up front, and the Cougars got contributions across the board at the net.

Columbia came out swinging in the nightcap and grabbed the first set, 25-23, before Central Methodist settled in and took the next three. The Cougars' offense was led by a strong all-around performance from Isabella Kincaid (12 kills) and Viola Giangreco (11 kills), with Alexa Olson and Hannah Vogt finishing with 18 assists apiece. Taylor Johnson led the defensive effort with 20 digs, followed by Alexa Olson's 16.
