Biography
2019: Started in 14 matches for the Cougars as a junior... Tallied 22 assists, 17 aces, and 172 digs before her untimely passing.
Shelby Meyer was a 5-6 libero from Festus, Missouri. She played her prep career at St. Pius X High School and then went to Mineral Area College from 2017-2019. In high school Meyer, a four year varsity player, was a 2016 State Champion, All-State First Team 2016, All-Region First Team 2016, two-time All-Region, three-time All-Conference, three-time All-District, and had four Final Four appearances. At Mineral Area, she was NJCAA All-American and All-Conference her sophomore year, and All-Region both years. In addition, Meyer ranked 5th in NJCAA National Tournament leaders in digs (4.47 digs/set), ranked 12th nationally for digs/set (5.31) and 11th nationally in total digs (626). In 2017, she helped Mineral Area to a 6th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament and a 10th place finish in 2018.
Shelby Meyer is survived by her parents, Trish and Paul Meyer, along with her younger sister Summer and older sister Sami Meyer who also played volleyball for Columbia College and then became her assistant coach during her time at Mineral Area Community College.
