Coaching Bio

Tomas Brock finished his sixth season as head coach of the Columbia Men’s Basketball team in 2024-25. He has a combined record of 127-55 (.698) at Columbia College.

Under Brock, the Cougars finished the 2024-25 season with a 22-8 record. Columbia had one of the most efficient offensive teams in the country. The Cougars finished 4th nationally in Three Pointers Made per game and 2nd in the nation in Assists per game.

The 2023-24 Cougars finished the regular season 24-7 and 12-2 in the AMC, while qualifying for an at-large bid in the NAIA National Tournament.

The 2022-23 campaign was also an exceptional season for Columbia. The Cougars finished the regular season 23-9. Brock’s team captured both the AMC Regular Season Championship and AMC Tournament Championship and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. In 2022-23, the Cougars gave up only 64.8 PPG which was the 12th best Scoring Defense in the nation.

During Coach Brock’s six seasons, Columbia has been an elite defensive and rebounding program. The Cougars have finished Top 15 nationally in Defensive FG% four times and Top 15 nationally in Rebounding Margin five times.

Prior to being named head coach in 2019, Brock spent four successful seasons with the Cougars as the Associate Head Coach. During Brock’s 10 seasons at Columbia College, the Cougars have won four AMC Regular Season Championships and two AMC Tournament Championships. The Cougars have also qualified for five NAIA National Tournaments, including two Sweet 16 finishes in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

At Columbia College, Brock has coached 14 NAIA All-Americans, 34 AMC All-Conference players, and 83 Academic All-Conference performers. In 2018, he was named a National Association of Basketball Coaches 30-under-30 award recipient, which recognizes 30 of the top young coaches in the nation across all divisions.

Prior to his time in Columbia, Brock had a successful one-year stint as the Head Coach at Hillcrest High School (Mo.) where he led the Hornets to the Missouri Class 4 State Championship game.

Brock began his coaching career at the NCAA Division II level with stops at East Central University (Okla.) and Northwest Missouri State University. At Northwest, he helped the Bearcats to a MIAA Regular Season Championship in 2012.

Before his coaching career, Brock played at Southwest Baptist University (Mo.) where he helped lead his team to a MIAA Championship and Sweet 16 appearance in 2009. He played high school basketball at Mt. Vernon High School (Mo.) for his father, Skip Brock, a member of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Brock resides in Columbia with his wife, Abby, and their children Bodie, Haddie, and Baylor.
