Saturday Basketball Doubleheader Preview & Information

Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar men's and women's basketball teams will square off against Missouri Baptist University tomorrow night in an American Midwest Conference (AMC) doubleheader. Due to Missouri Baptist hosting the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships, both games will be played at Moloney Arena on the campus of Maryville University in St. Louis. The Lady Cougars will tip off against the Spartans at 6:30 pm, followed by the men's game at approximately 8:30 pm.

In the women's game, No. 15 Columbia (13-5, 9-1 AMC) will be looking for their 10th win in 11 games after defeating Benedictine-Springfield 114-59 on Thursday night. The Lady Cougars are currently one game back of second-ranked Freed-Hardeman University (18-0, 10-0 AMC) for the top spot in the league standings. Missouri Baptist (5-12) is coming off a 70-67 defeat at Park University and sits in ninth place in the conference with a league record of 3-6. Columbia leads the all-time series 23-2 and has won 15 straight games against the Spartans dating back to 2007.

On the men's side, the seventh-ranked Cougars (17-2, 8-1 AMC) are looking for their second straight win after a 78-57 victory over Benedictine-Springfield on Thursday night. Columbia trails Freed-Hardeman (15-0, 9-0 AMC) by a game in the conference standings, but will host the Lions on February 22nd in a game that could likely decide the AMC regular season championship. Missouri Baptist (3-14) is currently sixth in the league with a mark of 3-5 following a 67-56 loss at Park on Thursday. The Spartans won their first two games in conference play, but have lost five of six. The Cougars lead the all-time series 48-34 and have won seven straight meetings since 2010.
