Box Score Walnut Ridge, Mo. – The Columbia Cougar soccer team clinched another American Midwest Conference (AMC) victory today, dropping Williams Baptist (Ark.) College by a score of 5-0. The Cougars are 7-3-2 on the season and 5-1-1 in AMC play while the Eagles fall to 4-7-1 overall and 2-6-0 versus league foes.
The Cougars wasted little time in getting on the board in the first half as junior
Vadim Cojocov found the back of the net one minute into the game for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Sixteen minutes later, Cojocov struck again to put Columbia in front 2-0 after connecting with
Liam Cain.
Nick Horne scored Columbia's third goal of the half at the 22:57 mark and the Cougars would hold a 3-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.
Columbia added two more goals following the halftime break, including one by sophomore
Clemente Rossi in the 47
th minute.
Joshua Arrowsmith assisted on the goal. Junior
Liam Cain added his third goal of the year in the 71
st minute after connecting with
Edin Campara.
The Cougars posted eight shots in the first period and ten more in the second to finish with 18 (8 on goal) for the game, while limiting the Bulldogs to just five on the night.
Brady Wulff earns the shutout in goal for Columbia and posted five saves.
The Cougar men return to the field Sunday, Oct. 19
th when they travel to Batesville, Ark. to take on Lyon College. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
