Box Score Parkville, Mo. – The Cougar men's soccer team defeated Park University 1-0 tonight in an American Midwest Conference (AMC) match up. With the win, Columbia improves to 8-4-2 on the year and 6-2-1 in AMC play while the Pirates fall to 10-3-0 on the season and 6-2-0 in conference play.
Neither side was able to get on the scoreboard until Columbia's
Nick Horne netted a goal in the 82
nd minute to put the Cougars up 1-0. Columbia was able to hold off the Pirates for the remainder of the game to earn the shutout victory.
Daniel Ainsworth recorded the win in goal for Columbia, posting six saves in the shutout, Columbia's fifth of the season. Park posted 12 shots (seven on-goal) for the match, compared to 14 shots (three on-goal) on the night for the Cougars.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, October 25th for another AMC match-up with Hannibal-LaGrange University. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
