Box Score 2 Georgetown, Ky. - The No. 13 ranked Columbia Cougar volleyball squad earned two victories for the second straight day to go 4-0 at the Boneyard Brawl this weekend. The Cougars posted a 3-2 victory over No. 9 Viterbo University (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-12) and finished the day with a 3-0 match win over (RV) Indiana Wesleyan University (25-9, 28-26, 25-23). The Cougars are now 29-4 on the season.
Three Cougars finished with a double-double in the first match of the day against the V-Hawks.
Paula Rosa led the match with 18 kills and added 16 digs followed by
Manon Soraru with 13 kills.
Brooke Simpson and
Polina Severina chipped in 11 kills apiece while Simpson added 25 digs and Severina had 11. Setter
Lydie van Deursen led the Cougars with 58 assists and had 18 digs while
Sarah Schwentker posted a team high 28 digs.
Against the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan,
Brooke Simpson led the way with her second double-double of the day with 18 kills and 16 digs.
Paula Rosa added nine kills and 15 digs while
Polina Severina chipped in with seven kills and 14 digs. Setter
Lydie van Deursen picked up a team high 40 assists and had 13 digs while
Sarah Schwentker led the team with 20 digs.
Following the tournament,
Brooke Simpson was named the Most Valuable Player while
Paula Rosa was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Cougars return to the court October 31
st when they travel to Walnut Ridge, Ark. to face conference foe Williams Baptist College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
