St. Louis, Mo. - The 8
th-ranked Cougar Volleyball team fell to No. 6 Missouri Baptist University tonight, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) in the semifinal round of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament. Columbia, the No 3 seed, drops to 33-5 overall with the loss.
Missouri Baptist led the match with 40 kills, 32 assists, 42 digs, and 11 aces while holding the Cougars to 32 kills, 27 assists, 33 digs, and zero aces. Columbia accumulated a hitting percentage of 0.183 while the Spartans ended with a hitting efficiency of 0.356 for the match.
Paula Rosa,
Brooke Simpson, and
Polina Severina led Columbia at the net with 7 kills apiece, to go along with six kills from
Viktoriia Lavrenchenko on the night.
Lydie van Deursen led the Cougars with 26 assists, while
Sarah Schwentker added a team high ten digs.Â
The Spartans were led by Taylor Cook, Kristina Mennemeyer, and Mallory Dillon with a match high nine kills each.
The Cougars will await the release of the final top 25 and NAIA Tournament qualifiers on Sunday to determine their fate for the rest of the postseason. Check back on
