Jamie Holmes leading off the inning with a single to right and scoring on a base hit by
Marli Hayes.

Whitni Howell, knotting things up at 3-3.
After a scoreless second inning, the Rams struck for a pair of runs in the third to knock Welch out of the game after 2.1 innings in the circle. Columbia would mount their comeback from there as Holmes and freshman
Carly Spalding connected on back-to-back home runs to start the bottom of the fifth, cutting the Rams lead to 8-5. The Cougars added two more runs in the inning on a throwing error by Texas Wesleyan and nearly tied things up, but pinch-runner
Kelsi Hill was gunned down at the plate to end the frame. The Rams were able to add an insurance run on Anderson's second home run of the game for a 9-7 lead in the sixth, but they were unable to do any further damage against Columbia relievers
Tiffany Urwiler and
Maria Imhoff.
Following two scoreless half innings, the Cougars went into the bottom of the seventh trailing by two but
Taylor Atwood was able to get things started with a leadoff single to third. Atwood would advance to second on a single to center by

However, a passed ball by Rams catcher Kali Jester allowed to Eiken to cross home plate with the tying run while Howell advanced to third representing the winning run. Tjarks was unable to cash in on the scoring opportunity as she was caught looking for the second out, which brought up freshman
