Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The Cougars shutout the Hornets from Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University tonight to notch their second American Midwest Conference (AMC) victory of the season. Columbia defeated the Hornets 5-0 to improve to 4-2-1 on the season and 2-0 in AMC play. Harris-Stowe falls to 1-8-0 overall and 0-4-0 versus league foes.
Junior
Vadim Cojocov notched his first goal of the season to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 13
th minute of play off two assists by
Nick Horne and
Rasmus Juul Pedersen.
Liam Cain found the back of the Hornets net again for a 2-0 Columbia lead in the 22
nd minute.
Vadim Cojocov would strike again in the 39
th minute off an assist by
Akhil Noel and
Nick Horne to give Columbia a three goal advantage at intermission.
In the second half of action,
Matija Ceraj powered a shot past Hornet goalie Dillen Myers in the 64
th minute.
Marko Paunovic and
Liam Cain assisted on the goal. Freshman
Carter Cox finished out the scoring for Columbia in the 83
rd minute when he headed the ball to find the back of the net.
Columbia finished the match with a 28-3 shot advantage, which included 12 shots on goal.
Brady Wulff and Daniel Ainsworth earn the combined shutout for the win in goal.
Columbia continues AMC play next week when they head to Belleville, Ill. to face the Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville. Game time is set for 4:15 on Tuesday, September 30th.
