Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Downs Lyon, 4-0

Columbia, Mo. – The Cougar women's soccer team picked up their third straight shutout with a 4-0 victory over Lyon (Ark.) College this afternoon in the NAIA Network Women's Soccer Match of the Week. With the win, Columbia improves to 10-3 overall on the season and 7-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) while the Scots drop to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in league play.

The Cougars found the board early, as Laurie Frew found the lower left corner of the net two minutes into the game, recording her conference leading 15th goal of the season. In the ninth minute of play, the Scots would kick the ball in their own goal, extending the Cougar lead to 2-0.

Katelyn Palmer tallied the third goal of the day in the 34th minute, after finding the net on a corner kick. Tiffany Weaver struck one minute later, notching her 11th goal of the year, to put the Cougars ahead 4-0.

Columbia carried the 4-0 advantage into the halftime break, after outshooting the Scots 12-1.

Neither team could find the net in the final 45 minutes of play, as the Cougars pulled away with the 4-0 win.

Flavia Rosado (10-3) recorded the win in goal for Columbia, posting two saves in the shutout, Columbia's eighth of the season. Lyon posted five shots (two on-goal) for the match, compared to 16 shots (six on-goal) on the day for the Cougars.

The Cougars will return to action Wednesday, October 14th when they host Park University. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
