St. Louis, Mo. - The Cougar men's soccer team defeated American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University 4-2 on Friday night. Columbia moves to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play with the win.
Columbia jumped on top six minutes into the game as
Mitchell Conning scored his team leading 10
th goal of the season.
Vadim Cojocov struck next in the 17
th minute to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead over Harris-Stowe.
The Cougars would carry the 2-0 advantage into the locker room after outshooting the Hornets 15-5 in the first half.
Dan Reilly added Columbia's third tally in the 48
th minute to extend the Columbia lead to 3-0.
The Hornets would hang around and cut the deficit as Mozart Garcia and Richard Kraka scored in the 58
th and 77
th minute, putting pressure on the Cougars.
In the 80
th minute of play, Columbia's
Carter Cox would score a goal of his own, giving the Cougars the 4-2 advantage. Neither team would be able to add to their score over the remainder of the game, as Columbia held on for the win.
Columbia outshot HSSU 25-13 for the game.
Iain McTurk (11-0) earned the win in goal for the Cougars, posting six saves.

Nic Powers and
Zachary Felz were credited with one assist apiece on the night.
Columbia will take to the field again on Saturday, October 17
th for a conference matchup with Central Baptist College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Conway, Ark.
