Conway, Ark. - The Cougar women's soccer team picked up a 6-0 shutout win over Central Baptist College on Saturday afternoon, marking their sixth consecutive victory dating back to September 30
th. With the win, Columbia improves to 13-3 overall on the season and 10-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
The Cougars completely dominated the first half outshooting the Mustangs 17-0, and carried a 4-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Laurie Frew put the Cougars in front in the 13
th minute with her conference leading 19
th goal of the season.
Kelli Westhues struck in the 24
th and 28
th minute, bringing her season total to 10 goals to extend the Cougar lead to 3-0.
Christina Conley notched a goal one minute later, adding her third tally of the season to round out the scoring in the first half.
Katelyn Palmer extended the Cougar lead to 5-0 in the 66
th minute, scoring her seventh goal of the year.
Tiffany Weaver sealed the victory with a goal in the 67
th minute as the Cougars would finish off the shutout victory over the final minutes.
Weaver had two assists while
Katie Cook was credited with three for the game.
The Cougars outshot the Mustangs 27-2 on the day and put 10 shots-on-goal.
Flavia Rosado (13-3) earned the win in goal for Columbia.
Columbia is back on the road on Wednesday, October 21
st when they travel to Missouri Baptist University for an AMC contest. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
