Cougar Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Williams Baptist; Improve to 6-0 in AMC

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia women's soccer team posted an 8-0 shutout victory over conference foe Williams Baptist College at R. Marvin Owens Field this afternoon. With the win, the Cougars improve to 9-3 overall and 6-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play. The Eagles fall to 2-7 on the season and 0-5 in league play.

Jordan Poire got the scoring started with the game winner just five minutes in to give the Cougars an early 1-0 advantage over the Eagles.

Christiana Conley and Laurie Frew notched two quick goals in the sixth and seventh minute of play while Tiffany Weaver struck one minute later extending the Columbia lead to 4-0.

Frew scored her second goal of the game in the 16th minute on a penalty kick and would complete her second hat trick of the season three minutes later, pushing her season total to 14 goals.

Erin Collier added the last goal of the half in the 32nd minute, giving the Cougars the 7-0 advantage over the Eagles heading into the halftime break.

Katie Cook recorded the lone tally of the second half in the 65th minute as Columbia captured the 8-0 shutout, their seventh of the season.

The Cougars outshot the Eagles 46-3 for the game. Junior Flavia Rosado (9-3) earned the win in goal, posting two saves.

Kelli Westhues, Molly Burke, Frew, Cook, Poire and Weaver had one assist apiece in the contest while Conley posted two and Palmer notched three.

The Cougars return to the field on Saturday, October 10th when they host AMC foe Lyon College. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
