Canton, Mo. – The Columbia College men's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Culver-Stockton College by a score of 2-1 tonight, extending their winning streak to seven games. With the victory, the Cougars improve their overall record to 10-2.

The Cougars and Wildcats played to a 0-0 tie through the first 45 minutes of play. Columbia outshot Culver-Stockton 11-5 and had five corner kicks, but Wildcat goalkeeper Robert Jones would keep the Cougars off of the board, making four saves.

Edin Campara would strike in the 49^th minute after lifting a shot over the head of Jones to give Columbia the 1-0 advantage. The Cougars extended their lead to 2-0 in the 62^nd minute after Vadim Cojocov put in a rebound shot by Matija Ceraj.

The Wildcats didn't back down from there, as Dominic Caruso found the back of the net in the 89^th minute to cut the deficit in half.

Culver-Stockton would get one last chance as a Columbia foul resulted in a free kick, but couldn't get the job done.

The Cougars outshot the Wildcats 21-8 for the game and put nine shots on the net. Iain McTurk (8-0) earned the win in goal and posted four saves.

Columbia returns to the field Saturday, October 10^th when they host American Midwest Conference opponent Lyon College. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
