Columbia, Mo. -The 10
th-ranked Columbia men's soccer team advanced to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) semifinal match today, knocking off Missouri Baptist University in the AMC postseason tournament by a score of 3-0. Columbia, the tournament's No. 1 seed, improves to 17-2 on the year with the win.
The game remained scoreless until Columbia's leading scorer
Mitchell Conning found the net in the 36
th minute of play after connecting with
Edin Campara. Campara scored a goal of his own less than five minutes later after a corner kick by
Nic Powers to give the Cougars the 2-0 advantage. Columbia carried their lead into the halftime period after outshooting the Spartans 14-3.
Matija Ceraj scored the lone tally of the second half in the 72
nd minute to put the Cougars up 3-0.

Akhil Noel picked up an assist on the goal.
Columbia outshot the Spartans 25-9 for the game putting six shots-on-goal.
Iain McTurk earned the win in goal posting four saves.
Prior to game time, members of the 2015 AMC All-Academic team were announced. The Cougars placed eight players on the squad, which included Noel, Ceraj,

Dan Reilly,
Kory McDonald,
Piero Malerba,
Carter Cox, and
Mark Steiniger.
The Cougars will move on to face No. 4 seed Lindenwood University-Belleville on Tuesday, November 10
