Henderson, Tenn. - The Cougar men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over American Midwest Conference (AMC) foe Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University tonight at Josh Riley Soccer Complex. Columbia improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win while the Lions fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in AMC play.

Columbia's Nic Powers struck first after scoring on a penalty kick in the 22^nd minute of play. The score would remain 1-0 until Carter Cox added a second tally in the 48^th minute to give the Cougars a 2-0 advantage over the Lions. Columbia would hold on from there, pulling away with the shutout victory.

Columbia posted an 11-4 shot advantage in the match, including a 9-1 edge in shots-on-goal. Junior keeper Ian McTurk (3-0) earned the win in goal with one save.

The Cougars return to the field Thursday, September 17^th when they host American Midwest Conference opponent William Woods University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
