Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia women's soccer team posted a 12-0 shutout victory over conference foe St. Louis College of Pharmacy at home today. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play. The Eutectics fall to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The Cougars posted seven goals in the first half and five in the second, outshooting the Eutectics 44-1 with 23 shots-on-goal for the game.
Jordan Poire got the scoring started seven minutes into the game and added another goal five minutes later, giving the Cougars and early 2-0 advantage.
Katie Cook struck next two minutes later, and Poire would complete her first career hat trick in the 14
th minute as Columbia took a commanding 4-0 lead.
Cook notched a second goal while
Katelyn Palmer and AMC goal leader
Laurie Frew rounded out the scoring in the first half.
Molly Burke,
Christina Conley,
Taylor Hagenhoff, Palmer, and Frew each had a goal in the second half.
Frew picked up three assists while
Tiffany Weaver and Palmer had two.
Meghan Nappier and
Ana Goncalves were also credited with one assist apiece.
Flavia Rosado (6-1) earned the shutout win in goal.
The Cougars return to the field, Wednesday, September 23
rd when they host crosstown foe Stephens College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
