Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Cougar men's soccer squad picked up their seventh win of the season today as they defeated non-conference opponent Ottawa University 3-0 at R. Marvin Owens Field. Today's game was part of Columbia College's Homecoming/Family Day activities. The Cougars improve to 7-2 on the season while the Braves fall to 1-7.
Columbia tallied two goals in the first half after outshooting the Braves 18-3. The Cougars added the first goal with eight minutes remaining in the half after a Columbia corner kick bounced off an Ottawa defender and found the back of the net.
Edin Campara added a second goal in the 41
st minute after connecting with
Mitchell Conning for the 2-0 advantage.
Carter Cox notched his third goal of the season in the 69
th minute to round out the scoring for the Cougars. Conning picked up his second assist of the game on the goal.
The Cougars outshot the Braves 26-7 with 10 shots-on-goal for the day.
Iain McTurk (5-0) recorded the shutout for the Cougars, posting five saves.
Columbia returns to the field on Tuesday, September 29
th when they host American Midwest Conference opponent Lindenwood University-Belleville. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
