Box Score Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College men's soccer team took on Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University in an AMC matchup. The Cougars were able to get the 3-0 win over the Hornets and improve to 9-4-1 on the season. Columbia College has been playing great soccer as of late and have not lost a match since September 9
th when they lost to Davenport (Mich.) University in double overtime. With the win tonight, the Cougars remain unbeaten in their last 10 games and have not lost in conference play.
In the first half of the game, both sides created several chances as neither side was able to gain an advantage. The Cougars were finally able to get on the board with five minutes left in the first half after
Edin Campara made a run in the box and was taken down by a Hornets defender.
Matija Ceraj took the penalty kick for Columbia College and buried it into the top corner of the net for his fourth goal of the season. The Cougars outshot the Hornets 12-5 in the half and had five shots on target.
Nick Horne put the Cougars up 2-0 in the 60
th minute when he picked up a rebound off of hard shot from
Edin Campara and blasted it into the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. Columbia College continued to apply pressure in the second half and picked up a goal with just over 18 minutes left in the match when
Edin Campara received a ball over the top from
Zachary Felz and beat several defenders before placing the ball into the top right hand corner of the net for his seventh goal of the season.
Iain McTurk and
Andrew Bare split time in goal for the Cougars tonight as they combined for their fifth shutout of the season. The two goalies recorded three saves between the two of them.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow night when the Missouri Valley College Vikings come to town. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at R. Marvin Owen's Field.
