Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College men's soccer team took on Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University in an AMC matchup. This game served as the senior night game for the Cougars and before the match began the seniors on the team were recognized for all of their hard work and dedication during their time in Columbia. It was a well played match by both sides as the game ended in a 1-1 draw through double overtime. With the tie tonight, the Cougars improve their overall record to 9-5-2 on the season.
In the first half of the match, the Trojans came out looking to get on the board early as they applied a heavy amount of pressure to the Cougars back line. They created several scoring opportunities in the half but the defense stood strong for Columbia College as they did not allow the Trojans to find the back of the net. The Cougars were finally able to find their footing around 15 minutes into the game and started to create several scoring opportunities themselves including a chance from
Edin Campara on a wide open goal that was blocked by a Trojan defender.
Columbia College was finally able to get on the board and take a 1-0 lead with just over 12 minutes left to play in the first half.
Nick Horne picked up the goal for the Cougars as he was able to get a head on a lofted cross from
Mitchell Conning and guide it past the Trojan keeper into the corner of the net. The goal was Horne's fifth of the season. Columbia College was outshot in the first half 5-3 with each team having one shot on goal.
The second half of the game was a very physical one as both teams had several fouls in the half including a yellow card given to
Cameron Durst midway through the period. The Trojans applied heavy pressure to Columbia College in the second half looking to even up the score in the game. They were finally able to get the equalizer after Issac Lehmkuhl finished off a pass from Ignacio Garrido for his 10
th goal of the season.
With the game tied at one at the end of regulation the teams headed into overtime. Columbia College came out in the overtime and controlled the pace of play. They possessed the ball in the Trojans half for most of the overtime period looking to take advantage of their scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, the Trojans defense stood up to the test and kept the Cougars out of the goal. Columbia College outshot the Trojans 5-0 in overtime and had two shots on goal.

The Cougars will return to the field on Saturday, October 29
th when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas, to take on Lyon (Ark.) College in their final regular season game. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
