Box Score 2 Georgetown, Ky. – The 25
th ranked Columbia College volleyball team was back in action today after picking up two big wins over top 10 opponents yesterday. The Cougars took on Campbellsville (Ky.) University and Taylor (Ind.) University on the second day of the 2016 Boneyard Brawl in Georgetown, Kentucky. Columbia College swept both opponents in three straight sets and improved to 21-11 while extending their winning streak to six straight matches.
In their first match of the day, the Cougars looked to use their momentum from yesterday and continue their winning streak. They were able to sweep Campbellsville University in three straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) to improve to 20-11 on the season. The Cougars played a great game on both sides of the ball and had two players with double digit kills to go along with two players that had double digit digs.
Peiyi Liu had another great game to add to her impressive season as she had a team high 20 kills to go along with 10 digs in the match.
Eirini Chatziefstratiadou added 11 kills for Columbia College while
Sami Meyer led the team with 12 digs.
Sashiko Heredia also had another great game for the Cougars as she continues to run the offense with efficiency. Heredia picked up 43 assists in the game and ranks 10
th in the NAIA in assists per game.
The Cougars continued to play well in their second match and also swept Taylor University in three straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-14) to finish the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. Columbia College played great defense in the match as they had four players finish with double digit digs.
Johanna Mueller led the way for the Cougars with 15 digs in the match to go along with a team high 13 kills.
Peiyi Liu was shut down offensively by the Trojans but played great defense tallying 14 digs in the contest. Additionally,
Caroline Clifford and
Sami Meyer each contributed 12 digs to the 62 total digs from Columbia College.
Sashiko Heredia led the Cougars offensively adding 34 total assists to her impressive season numbers.
Columbia College is back in action on Wednesday, November 2
nd when they take on Central Baptist (Ark.) College in an AMC matchup. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Southwell Athletic Complex.
