Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College volleyball team was back on the court in an AMC matchup against Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University. The Cougars were fresh off their upset of the 11^th ranked MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University Pioneers last night and were able to use their momentum to sweep the Hornets tonight in three straight sets (25-7, 25-7, 25-11). With the win, the Cougars improve to 10-8 on the season.

In the first set of the match, the Cougars dominated the Hornets. They were able to use a 10-2 run early in the game to jump out to a 14-5 lead and cruised to a 25-7 victory. Columbia College had 15 kills in the set on 20 attacks for a .750 attacking percentage.

The next two sets were a lot like the first with Columbia College jumping out to an early lead and holding off the Hornets to get the win. In the second set, the Cougars went on a 14-2 run to open the game and played great defense to hold off the Hornets attack. They eventually took the second set by a score of 25-7. In the third set, Columbia College was able to go on a 12-3 run to start the game which lead to a 25-11 victory to complete the three game sweep.

The Cougars were led by Peiyi Liu who had a match high 12 kills and eight digs. Susannah Kelley ran most of the offense for the Cougars tonight as she had a match high 22 assists while tacking on seven digs.

The Cougars are back in action on Sunday, October 9^th when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas, to play Lyon College in an AMC matchup. The game is set to begin 3 p.m.
