Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College volleyball team was back on the court in an AMC matchup against Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University. The Cougars were fresh off their upset of the 11
th ranked MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University Pioneers last night and were able to use their momentum to sweep the Hornets tonight in three straight sets (25-7, 25-7, 25-11). With the win, the Cougars improve to 10-8 on the season.
In the first set of the match, the Cougars dominated the Hornets. They were able to use a 10-2 run early in the game to jump out to a 14-5 lead and cruised to a 25-7 victory. Columbia College had 15 kills in the set on 20 attacks for a .750 attacking percentage.
The next two sets were a lot like the first with Columbia College jumping out to an early lead and holding off the Hornets to get the win. In the second set, the Cougars went on a 14-2 run to open the game and played great defense to hold off the Hornets attack. They eventually took the second set by a score of 25-7. In the third set, Columbia College was able to go on a 12-3 run to start the game which lead to a 25-11 victory to complete the three game sweep.

Peiyi Liu who had a match high 12 kills and eight digs.
Susannah Kelley ran most of the offense for the Cougars tonight as she had a match high 22 assists while tacking on seven digs.
The Cougars are back in action on Sunday, October 9
th when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas, to play Lyon College in an AMC matchup. The game is set to begin 3 p.m.
