Columbia, Mo. – The 20
th ranked Columbia College women's soccer team defeated Freed-Hardeman University today in a Family Day/Homecoming match-up. The Cougars defeated the Lions by a score of 2-0 to move to 6-1-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play and 10-1-2 on the season.
The contest was dominated by the Cougars from the opening kick. Senior
Taylor Hagenhoff put Columbia on the board in the 23
rd minute when she knocked in a penalty kick. The goal was the first of the season for Hagenhoff.
Laurie Frew gave Columbia an insurance goal just two minutes into the second half when she launched a shot from 20 yards out over the heads of the defenders and the keeper. This was Frew's ninth goal of the season.
Flavia Rosado scored the win in goal as the Cougars outshot their opponent 25-2.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, October 12
th when they travel to Belleville, Ill. to take on the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
