Box Score Belleville, Ill. – This afternoon the 19
th ranked Columbia College women's soccer team traveled to Belleville, Illinois, to take on Lindenwood (Ill.) University-Belleville in an AMC matchup. The Cougars were able to pick up their third win in a row as they beat the Lynx by a final score of 1-0 to improve to 11-1-2 on the season and 7-1 in conference play.
The Cougars got on the board first in the contest 28 minutes into the game when
Tiffany Weaver had her shot saved by the Lynx keeper and
Katelyn Palmer was there for the rebound. Palmer was able to find
Laurie Frew inside the box who slid the ball into the back of the net for her 10
th goal of the season. Columbia College outshot the Lynx 14-5 in the first half and had six shots on target.
The Cougars came out in the second half and applied pressure to Lindenwood University-Belleville as they were able to earn themselves three corner kicks in the first 10 minutes of the half. Columbia College had 12 shots in the period including four shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net as the Lynx goalkeeper made four saves in the half.
Flavia Rosado was in goal this afternoon for the Cougars recording eight saves in the shutout. This was her seventh solo shutout of the season and the teams 11
th overall as Columbia College continues to play great defense this season.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday, October 15
th when they take on Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University in an AMC contest. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field in Columbia.
