Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA announced its first regular season NAIA D1 Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll. Despite getting off to a great start in the season, the Cougars, who ranked sixth in the preseason poll, moved down one spot to seventh in the latest rankings.
The Cougars have started out their season with a 9-1 record and their only loss coming to William Penn (Iowa) University who was ranked third at the time. They are currently riding a three game winning streak in which they have outscored their opponents 293-179 over those three games. They are led offensively by
Nic Reynolds who is currently averaging 15.6 points per game while shooting an impressive 0.473 from the field.
As a team, Columbia College ranks in the top 10 in two categories including scoring defense per game (60.600) and three point field goal percentage (0.436). They also rank in the top 15 in the NAIA in field goal percentage defense (0.389), scoring margin (21.200), and total rebound defense (31.100). The Cougars are led defensively by
Malik Ray who ranks eighth nationally in total blocks with 18 on the season.
Columbia College is back in action on Saturday, December 10
th when they host Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University in an AMC matchup. The game is set to tip-off at 3 p.m. at the Southwell Complex.
