Box Score Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Columbia College men's soccer team was back in action tonight as they took on Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The Cougars were able to get their first win of the season in a 4-1 win over the Tigers and improve to 1-4 on the season.
The first half of the game was mostly controlled by the Tigers. They were able to outshoot the Cougars 10-5 in the half.
Olivet Nazarene was able to break through and took the lead early in the second half scoring just two minutes into the period. Clay Selby picked up the goal for the Tigers off of the assist from Christian Hencock-Berhanu to put them up 1-0.
After the Tigers were able to score, they were unable to stop
Edin Campara for the rest of the game. Campara took over scoring three goals in the remaining 43 minutes of the game and added an assist to his impressive outing. His first goal came just five minutes after the tigers scored and was unassisted. Four minutes after his goal he recorded his first assist of the season when he found
Brett Bales to put the Cougars up 2-1.
Campara was back at it again just eight minutes after the goal from Bales and then finished off his spectacular night in the 76
th minute to complete his hat-trick.
Nick Horne and
Pere Adrian Servera had the assists on the goals.
Iain McTurk was in goal for the Cougars recording seven saves in the contest.
The Cougars will take on Central Baptist College on Tuesday, September 13 in their first American Midwest Conference matchup of the season. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
