Cougars Win Second Straight

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Columbia College women's soccer team hit the road for the first time this season when they traveled to Oskaloosa, Iowa, to take on William Penn University. The Cougars controlled the game from the opening whistle and were able to defeat the Statesmen by a score of 1-0, improving their overall record to 2-0-1. William Penn falls to 2-2 on the season.

The Cougars dominated the first 45 minutes of the game as they were able to create scoring chance after scoring chance. Their strong defensive play was able to shut down the Statesmen's attack leading to 21 shots by the Cougars including six on target.

Kelsey Mirts scored the only goal of the game for either side eight minutes into the second half when she beat the Statesmen keeper on a pass from Laurie Frew to put the Cougars up 1-0.

Columbia College finished the game with a season high 36 shots including 16 on goal. However, Adriana Borjon was tough to beat as she was able to make 15 saves in the match.
Flavia Rosado was in net for the Cougars this afternoon picking up her second shutout of the season while making two saves.

The Cougars hit the road again on Friday, September 9th when they take on Concordia University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Olivet Nazarene University.
