Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the fifth regular season Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who cracked the top 25 for the first time this season ranking 23rd in the previous poll, moved up to 21st after defeating Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University and Williams Baptist (Ark.) College last week to improve to 9-2 overall.
Columbia has been rolling on an eight game winning streak. They currently rank 10th in the NAIA in total shutouts (5) and 25th in shutouts per game (.450). They are also ranked 41st in total goals (26) and 47th in shots per game (16.820).
The Cougars have been led by Joey Koetting who ranks 42nd in total game winning goals (2) and Nicolau Neto who ranks second in goals against per game (.330). Michael Mayberry has also been a contributing factor averaging 3.27 shots per game and 1.45 shots on goal per game.
Columbia College is back in action on Homecoming Day Saturday, October 7th when they host Midland (Neb.) University. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
